The Importance of Small Business Web Management

They used to say “word of mouth” was the best form of advertising. Honest and free. Can’t get much better than that, right? Wrong! What happened to “you get what you pay for”?

In today’s world it is virtually impossible to just get by, much less enjoy success, without utilizing some type of internet marketing or web management. It’s not a question of how to use the internet, its a question of how much.

This social media frenzy we find ourselves in, is not unlike the shark feeding frenzy we all have heard so much about. Web management and marketing is no longer an option, it’s a requirement, if you want to stay connected to your customer base and continue to grow your business. There is no guarantee you will succeed with Internet Marketing. Only a guarantee you will likely fail without it.

Not every age group uses social media. At least not every day. For example, the 35-44 age group uses Facebook and Twitter the most, while teenagers have twice as many social friends as this group. Knowing that the average network user is 37 years old can be very helpful in developing internet marketing strategies.

Your business reputation is no longer in your own hands. It is in the hands of your customers, and maybe not even your customers! The internet highway has no speed limits and you have to be very careful negotiating all those turns. Cut somebody off and you just might pay a very steep price in terms of customer complaints. If your customers aren’t happy there are plenty of places to complain. And complain they will. Your job is to listen and monitor that feedback for honesty and quality assurance. Hold the customer accountable for what he/she is saying about your business. We all make mistakes and want to correct them as quickly as possible. Do your research on any complaint, visit with the customer, rectify the problem and move on.

With more and more companies using social media the keys are making it work for you.Don’t get caught up in all the hype and jump on some bandwagon just because everyone else seems to. Take your time and do some research specific to your business and what your business really needs. It doesn’t cost a lot of money to market your products on the internet anymore. The key is finding the right vehicle, and delivering the right message to the right people.
