Double Your Blog’s Income

Double Your Blog’s Income

Here is your homework assignment for 2013: take a look at your blog and identify three ways you can double the income you make from that blog.  Once you have done this, implement those three ways and stick to them.  Simple right?  It does sound daunting but it is doable and may not turn out to be as hard as you think.  We already covered ways to increase your blog’s traffic for 2013 and will revisit some of those and give you a couple of other areas to consider.

Increase Traffic to Increase Sales

Face it, without traffic to your blog there can be no sales.  Traffic is what gets people to your blog and gets them interested in what you are offering.  Some ways to increase traffic are:

  • Guest post to other blogs.  Get with other bloggers similar to you and pitch and write guest posts for them.  You can link back to your blog and get some traffic that way.
  • Tweet it.  If you are not already into social media get there heavily.  People spend more time on social media than on other websites.
  • Write often and write well.  Post frequently and make sure you are posting well written pieces.
  • Use SEO tools.  Get and use an SEO tools to monitor how well you are doing with the search engines.

Get Them Hooked

Everyone who visits your blog is a potential customer and source of income for you.  When that first time visitor reads your blog, you better have a good engaging content marketing strategy in place.  This includes timely, relevant posts to get readers to subscribe to your blog.  And don’t forget the power of the freebie.  Think of something you can offer to each new subscriber free of charge.  This is best done if it costs you nothing to offer it.

Close the Sale

Once they are on your blog and hooked, you have to set that hook and close the sale.  There are many ways to close the sale and what you use will depend on what you’re selling.  Someone selling eBooks, for example, can offer a two for one sale for a limited time.  There is always some way to entice your readers and get them to buy what you are offering.

Part of closing the sale is up selling.  On its base this has a used car kind of ring to it but it is not a bad concept.  Once they decide to make a purchase offer them something else that compliments that purchase.  Many large online retailers put together packages of complimentary items that the consumer can get for just a small increase over the amount of the single item.  This type of up selling can be done with virtually any product or service.

Whether you are a full time blogger or run a blog as part of your business, you need to treat that blog as a business.  With the right strategies in place you can not only increase the traffic and exposure of your blog but you can increase the income from the blog.  From monetizing with advertisements to offering special sales, there really is no limit to what you can do to increase your income.  Get creative and you will find ways that work for you and your product or service.
